Luke, thanks for your help. I've already turned up the volume level and
it didn't work. I also selected the "earphone connector", as you
suggested, but it didn't work either. Besides, when I selected "earphone
connector", it comes no sound from the speakers, so I changed back to
"analog output".

Finally, I updated the audio drivers and it didn't work as well.

My motherboard is a Biostar G41D3C. The one I was using before was a MSI
(don't remember the model), and the sound was perfect, both on Ubuntu
and on Windows XP. I have also looked for a proprietary drive on
Biostar's website , but it does not support Linux, so I'm thinking of
going back to MSI.
