GParted uses the libparted library from the Parted project. Both the GParted GUI and the libparted library were enhanced to handle sector sizes larger than 512 bytes.
The problem you experienced is contained in the following snippet from the gparted_details.htm log file: resize2fs: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read while trying to resize /dev/sda2 Please run 'e2fsck -fy /dev/sda2' to fix the filesystem In the past when I have seen "short read" errors, there has either been a poor or loose connection between the drive and the computer, or there have been bad sectors on the drive. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/808127 Title: can't resize partition To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/808127/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
