How ridiculous! The problem was fixed in the full release like I noted in comment #3, so I never revisited the bug. No hardware changed, not even in the past two years. The error was in the cpio process, and two years later you're now hand-waving about a hardware problem, even though I wrote comment #3 from the same hardware? It's enough to make me drop Ubuntu.
