I also have a Dell XPS 15z, and the trackpad was initially not working. I'm using Debian/unstable, but with with kernel 3.0-rc5. After playing with the psmouse module a bit, I managed to get it to work. Namely, any of these commands worked for me:
rmmod psmouse; modprobe psmouse proto=bare rmmod psmouse; modprobe psmouse proto=imps rmmod psmouse; modprobe psmouse proto=exps Before I was getting: psmouse.c: Failed to enable mouse on isa0060/serio1 Now, I get one of: input: PS/2 Generic Mouse as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input17 input: ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input16 It's likely that some of the multi-fingered gestures are not working properly, but it works well enough for my daily use so that I don't need an external USB mouse. Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/799938 Title: Trackpad of Dell XPS 15z not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/799938/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
