VF, please see jclemon's earlier comment about Abiword. Jclemon, ok, just a suggestion, as removing the file KDE had created fixed this for most things, then an update to OO.o fixed it for that for me, so I thought you could have received the fix but still been suffering from the ~/.fonts issue.
