Public bug reported:

When I add an LDAP address book, Evolution won't search the database.

I've entered the following information for the address book:

The "Server" field contains "crtdir.certifikat.dk", and the port is 389.
I've specified an insecure connection and anonymous login. The login
field is left empty. In the details tab, the search base is "c=DK", and
the search tree is specified as subtree. The search filter is left
empty.

The above LDAP server answers queries that are performed from the
command line; for example:

  ldapsearch -x -h crtdir.certifikat.dk -b "c=DK" "mail=em...@addre.ss"

will return its search results for the email address "em...@addre.ss".

For debugging, I set up an LDAP server on my own computer to see if the
simple authentication (the "-x" switch) might be the culprit. However,
according to the LDAP debug log set to max debugging level, evolution
doesn't even connect to the LDAP server.
