Natty Compiz 0.9.4.0 2.6.38-8-generic-pae Radeon HD 5750 w/ proprietary driver 11-6-x86 MOUSE: Logitech G500
Compiz is very slow/choppy during window movement and desktop cube rotation. It is choppy ONLY WHILE THE MOUSE IS MOVING. Compiz is not slow/choppy while the mouse isn't moving. I assume this means that mouse input events are somehow interfering with Compiz? SWITCHING TO A DIFFERENT MOUSE FIXES THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY (a cheap dell mouse). Disabling Sync to VBlank does not help. Disabling Detect Refresh Rate does not help. I get an error message in /var/log/Xorg.0.log: (EE) Logitech G500: failed to initialize for relative axes. (II) Logitech G500: initialized for absolute axes. I wonder how many others' problems are due to the mouse without realising it? It was difficult to realise that Compiz was only lagging while the mouse was moving.
