@Jens @Matt

I am trying to reproduce this issue, but I've been unsucessful so far.
I lowered the timeout in /etc/default/autofs to 30. I see the NFS mount
get unmounted without any issue. If I cd to the /net/HOSTNAME/share
directory, the mount is never unmounted.

Is it possible for either of you to post additional information about
your environment? It would be great if you would post your /etc/auto.*
files, and your /etc/exports file from the NFS server.

Also, is the NFS server an Ubuntu server as well?
