since it looks like your kernel fails to recognize the pointing device.

I'd like to ask you for  some more information to better assess the
problem.

Please run the following command which will attach necessary
information:

apport-collect 799938

Also, please post (as a comment) the output of running

xinput --list

in a terminal window (press ctrl-alt-t to open a terminal).
