When using the computer such as reading email or reading a web page the
disk keeps operating about every 1.5 seconds and the led lights. It
sounds like someone drumming their fingers on a table. This is when I am
not using any program which is generating disk access. It just
continues for a long time. When I do something that requires disk access
there is the normal activity then the repeated activity resumes. In a
quiet room it is very annoying and I am concerned about wearing out my
disk prematurely.
