fbusse, the package is not unknown. At least I can prove that Konqueror (but probably also kcontrol's) samba GUI adds this option. And yes I agree that samba should gracefully ignore misconfigurations in smb.conf. My point is that Feisty is a collection of tools that should work together well when released or shortly after. Of course I know how to edit smb.conf by hand, but the majority of the users are going to use the GUI, a part of them the advanced GUI, and that will render their samba shares useless unless they google and find this bug.
