Exact same problem here : Ubuntu 11.04 unity, Graphics card GeForce 8400 GS, nvidia-driver-173
By accident, I found that by running NVIDIA Xserver setting, right click on the NVIDIA icon on unity menu bar, and mark it as "Always show" is enough to have the same effect as running the same program from system setting. This is only a workround, but in effect, I can watch videos immediately after login without running the xserver setting thing. Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/734798 Title: nvidia-current gifs no video in videoplayers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/734798/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
