Pretty sure that 2.6.32-era driver code for the Nova-T 500 doesn't support anything but a Hauppauge RC5 remote, without significant hacking. You may have better luck with a 2.6.38 kernel, or at least, a media_build replacement of all your v4l/dvb/rc code.
