actually changing brightness on this laptop causes it to freeze with natty.
here you see an exact description of the problem: " If I press Fn-F7 (lower screen brightness) two times or Fn-F8 (increase brightness) the laptop freezes up solid. I get an unhandled HKEY 0x6050 message from Fn-F7 the first time I press it, but I'm not thinking thinkpad_acpi is the culprit, since the behavior is the same (2nd F7, 1st F8 freezes laptop) even without the module loaded." what I have found is that if I start up with kernel option 'noapic' I can set the brightness, without any automatism/sw mode obviously. at least it doesnt freeze the machine and is possible. I bet this is a bios issue, but this machine also suffers from misdetected synaptics touchpad, which causes 5-10 sec initialization delay when I try to use trackpoint and touchpad, see bug #790772 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/790755 Title: [Thinkpad E220S] OSD Notify not shown for brightness keys -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
