@John: If the workaround does not work for you then you must have a different problem. Please open a new bug report by running 'ubuntu-bug linux' from a terminal.
@Mark, @Xavier: Regarding the workaround linked to in comment #5, the rt2860sta driver is deprecated and in fact has already been removed from newer upstream kernel versions.
