Sorry, maybe I'm blind, but I don't see the check disc option. After
booting from either the live CD or USB stick, I am only given the
options to try or install ubuntu.

I can go to the system settings on the shut down menu and select either
disk utility or system testing, both of which I tried from 10.04 and got
no errors registered for the disk (see above).

In 11.04, disk utility returns "daemon is inhibited" and system testing
returns "Unable to copy the user's Xauthorisation file."

Is there a way that I can test the integrity of  the original downloaded
iso file?
