Actually it's another issue, I have dual boot win7 and ubuntu, Lenovo laptop. I have to boot into win and then turn on the wireless with the lenovo redycomm software. Then I reboot into ubuntu and wireless works fine. So I guess it's actually a windows problem :) thanks
