As we found out during a session on the Danish forum, the following
command resolves the problem for users who encounter it:

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* && sudo apt-get update && sudo dpkg
--configure -a && sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get update && sudo
apt-get upgrade

you get a notice that ''/var/lib/apt/lists/partial' cannot be deleted
which can be safely ignored.
