Deprecated means it shouldn't be used in anything new, but it remains
usable. Make an argument for replacing a working system in an already
released operating system. Especially one that is part of every single
Ubuntu install. Since you seem insistent, I'll add Ubuntu-backporters to
the bug and let them decide.
