Its hard to see the logging information at the bottom of the installer window, because the display is only 800x600, but the installer seems to have been designed for a larger display size.
Preferences -> Monitors shows the Display as Unknown; it is an 800x600 display with a single DTD for that resolution in the VBIOS. Is there a way to start the GUI install via Ethernet from a remote system with a larger display? I restarted the install without rebooting; it still hasn't finished overnight; last thing it reports is: Saving installed packages ... What does the above phrase mean? Is the installation finished? Is this just saving the downloaded packages into an archive? What is the effect of clicking the SKIP button? I have had no problem installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Ubuntu 10.10, so I'm surprised by the difficulties I'm having with Ubuntu 11.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787830 Title: Unbuntu 11.04 installer crash - occured after configuration when removing packages -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
