I have two Thinkpad Edge 13 notebooks in the family and neither of them have working microphones, even with kernel 2.6.38-8 in Natty.
I tried setting the "model" parameter in snd-hda-intel to all the alternatives that are available and still no luck. When I ran "alsa- info.sh" it indicated that these machines use the Conexant 5066 chip with vendor ID: 17aa:21b3. I had a look in the kernel source and found a file "sound/pci/hda/patch_conexant.c". This lists the machines that use the 5066 chip, but the only vendor IDs listed for the Edge 13 are 17aa:21c5 and 17aa:21c6. This suggests to me that Lenovo have produced another variant of the Edge 13 that does not work with the fix discussed above.
