Thanks for your bug report. Could you please try the following:
1. Open a terminal, and run "alsamixer"
2. Using the left/right arrow keys, find the control named "External Amplifier".
3. Use the M key to turn it off.
Now try playing some sound again, and report back as to whether that
helped at all.
