mellofello, that's really interesting. I'll try that out. I'm still looking for a way to logout cleanly, closing all programs, until this is fixed. I've now tried the commands "gnome-session-save --logout" & "gnome-session-save --force-logout".
(The deprecated command "gnome-session-save --kill --silent" is indicated in these places: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=222173 https://www.linux.com/archive/feature/153953 ) No matter what, I get the error "** (gnome-session-save:PID): WARNING **: Unable to start: Cannot open display:". I don't know enough to troubleshoot this & my searches haven't yielded anything. Ctrl+s is now muscle memory, that's for sure. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762918 Title: Natty Screensaver freezes system after some period of inactivity -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
