Dear Bernard, I have prepared a backport of Debian's samtools package 0.1.16-1 for Lucid in the PPA of Debian Med:
https://launchpad.net/~debian-med/+archive/ppa In the 0.1.16-1 package, the headers for libbam were moved in /usr/lib/samtools, but I reverted this in the backport 0.1.16-1~lucid1, as other packages like libbio-samtools-perl would not be buildable. I may revert again if we start to backport libbio-samtools-perl 1.28-2 or superior, or new packages like cufflinks.
