I've installed the brand new released feisty from a cd, and the problem still exist! With "sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup" i could solve it, but it's not the way for the 'average user'. With the default english locale console mc and gdm errors look unreadable a strange due to UTF8, but i used Hungarian locale in my new install, and all extra hungarian characters looked smashed on translated messages by the system...so this behaviour sould be corrected.
