Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

I am not able to log into Google Talk using Pidgin on my laptop nor desktop on
2 different networks, and 2 different releases of Ubuntu and Pidgin.
Desktop Ubuntu 10.04 Pidgin 2.6.6
Laptop Ubuntu 11.04 Pidgin 2.7.11
I have tried changing settings, deleting the account in Pidgin and creating it
again, changing ports, dpkg-reconfigure, but nothing works. I am able to log
into my account on my Android phone, so there is not a problem with the account
itself.
I have ensured the password is correct. I have tried entering my username with
@gmail.com and without. I have tried Require SSL/TLS and without, I have tried
Force Old SSL and without, I have tried Allow Plaintext auth and without I have
changed ports.
Nothing changes.
Debug window states connection timed out.
