Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wl
I have one annoying issue with my BCM43225 802.11b/g/n device on my Acer emachines E732G. After downloading updates recently (between 27th and 30th of April) my Fn-keys for turning WiFi on/off stopped working. WiFi itself works fine and can be activated/deactivated by rightclick on Network Manager. <rfkill list> does not give any output <lsmod | grep acer> does not give any output <lsmod> gives Module Size Used by binfmt_misc 7984 1 parport_pc 30086 0 ppdev 6804 0 joydev 11395 0 snd_hda_codec_atihdmi 3079 1 snd_hda_codec_realtek 300173 1 snd_hda_intel 26147 2 snd_hda_codec 100951 3 snd_hda_codec_atihdmi,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel snd_hwdep 6660 1 snd_hda_codec snd_pcm 89104 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec snd_seq_midi 5932 0 snd_rawmidi 22207 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event 7291 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq 57512 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_timer 23850 2 snd_pcm,snd_seq snd_seq_device 6912 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq lib80211_crypt_tkip 8732 0 fglrx 2523725 202 snd 64181 13 snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel,snd_hda_codec,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device video 22176 0 uvcvideo 62379 0 lp 10201 0 output 2527 1 video videodev 49359 1 uvcvideo v4l1_compat 15519 2 uvcvideo,videodev v4l2_compat_ioctl32 12614 1 videodev wl 1965231 0 soundcore 1240 1 snd snd_page_alloc 8588 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm lib80211 6175 2 lib80211_crypt_tkip,wl psmouse 62080 0 serio_raw 4910 0 intel_agp 32334 0 parport 37032 3 parport_pc,ppdev,lp usbhid 42030 0 hid 84710 1 usbhid tg3 135768 0 ahci 22210 3 libahci 26148 1 ahci <iwconfig> gives lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. eth1 IEEE 802.11 Access Point: Not-Associated Link Quality:4 Signal level:196 Noise level:162 Rx invalid nwid:0 invalid crypt:0 invalid misc:0 Strangely enough I have tested Ubuntu 11.04 on this machine and everything works fine, both of the above mentioned (lsmod grep, rfkill) deliver correct output.
