I tried upgrading again and that failed in the same way. Because I
expected the possibility of this happening, I was able to collect useful
debugging data about this bug. This appears to be the trouble:

Errors were encountered while processing:

The upgrade continues for a while longer, ultimately completely failing
because there's too many dependency problems.
It looks like my trouble is Bug #387112. I'll mark this report as a
duplicate and upload new logs in case someone may find them useful.
