Sorry folks, this bug completely fell off my radar (mostly because no one reported it upstream).
I should point out that SSSD 1.2.x is EOL in favor of SSSD 1.5.x LTM (long-term maintenance). It would be best to get your package maintainer to update to a supported package. Otherwise, I can't guarantee that you will see any fixes from upstream that will help.
