I have the same problem on a laptop with switchable ati graphics running natty. I have the radeon module blacklisted, then I modprobe it and use vgaswitcheroo to disable the ati card in rc.local. My computer seems much more likely to log back out within a few minutes of logging in. sometimes it does it immediately after, other times it happens when I click on something. Let me know if anyone needs any log files.
