Interestingly, I personally can't remember having seen this in Maverick or Lucid. Only no since Natty it bothers me. A bug that I'm experiencing since ubuntu 9.x is https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/501500 But it's unlikely that it's related.
