Hello
in Kontact i think the following should be kubuntu default settings:
In Kontact go to Settings => Configure Notifications => Click Advanced => Check
the two boxes:
"Show a message in a popup window"
"Use a passive window" that doesn't interrupt other work"
This is kind of how MS Outlooks default setting is. Its quite nice and
think it should be default
