Public bug reported:
Upgrading to 7.04 from 6.10 failed when installing "linux-image-
generic", the upgrade tool quit working. I don't know much about linux,
but I guess something is wrong with a dependency. I then ran
sudo apt-get -f install
Afterwards, I ran
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
&& sudo apt-get autoclean
I googled that and it sounded reasonable to me. After reboot everything
works fine. Please tell me, if I can find som relevant log data on my
system, then I will post it here. If relevant, I also ran an upgrade on
my laptop without problems - this system was installed a few weeks ago
only and never had a kernel-update.
