I hope this will be helpful. Modifying the instructions as mentioned earlier for the hard link, I did the following: as root: # mknod /dev/m500 c 188 1 # chmod 766 /dev/m500
I was then able to use hotsync easily, since /dev/pilot was otherwise created and deleted over my hard link. The new link doesn't get deleted.
