Same thing here. I guess it is not because of CCSM, but because of Compiz itself, ie. the window manager itself, and not its configurations window... "aptitude show compiz" says: "Version: 1:0.9.4+bzr20110415-0ubuntu2", which seems to be the latest development (ie. unstable) version: http://wiki.compiz.org/. The latest stable version is 0.8.8, but Natty uses 0.9.4. So basically, no matter if we use Ubuntu Classic Desktop (Gnome 2), or XFCE+Compiz, or KDE+Compiz, or ANYTHING+Compiz, for that matter, in Natty we will ALWAYS have an unstable environment, because of its unstable WM...
Basically, I kind of like Unity, and I always liked Compiz. So I was very happy to know that Unitiy will work in Compiz, and not Mutter. But at the same time, I just don't feel like using an unstable WM regularily on my production laptop... I am sure this is something that will be solved by the time Compiz 0.9.4 gets a stable release, but in the meantime, I guess I will have to use a different WM, which means a different environment, too... :-( Is there a way to downgrade Compiz to 0.8.8 for use with Ubuntu Classic or other evnironments (like XFCE of KDE)? I don't really feel like downgrading my whole Ubuntu installation... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773482 Title: Compiz makes the system unstable in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
