Thanks Mahmoud Such a kernel from that ppa[1] is probably the best choice for now, as it is an ubuntu kernel unlike the ones from the ubuntu mainline archive[2].
I see the driver has been renamed from brcm80211 (in kernel 2.6.38[3]) to brcmsmac (in kernel 2.6.39[4]).
