I have these problems and more--editing pretty much anything in compiz will duplicate the effects in the linked PNG image and they will remove window menus and title bars, keyboard shortcuts, the ability to move windows... basically it requires a logout/login cycle to function at all. I've found the "Ubuntu Classic" to be a bit more stable but I've experienced the same problems with it.
