I just received my Lenovo IdeaPad U160 i5 and I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on it.
Me experience:
1. The grafik works out of the box with the intel driver
2. I have trouble changing the monitor settings via the Ubuntu Controll Center.
After changing the settings, the screen stays black. Even after the 30 Sec
Timeout
3. This behavor causes many side effects (as I think): I suspending does not
work --> Black screen, Connecting an external Monitor does not work --> Black
screen

So I looked at the mentioned fix on the freedesktop site
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32748) and i have serveral
questions
1. Is the fix included in 11.04 ?
2. Must I compile my own kernel? If yes, can I use one from Kernel.org or do I
have to patch my own kernel?
3. If the patch is included, do I have to do some settings? In the attachment
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=41941) I see, that there is
some variable to be set.

If requested, I can also attach some logfiles.

I hope, this helps.

Oliver
