Thanks for your bugreport. It looks like the machine frozen in the middle of the upgrade and the upgrade could not be completted. A way to recover is to boot from the live-cd, mount your root filesystem and chroot into it. Then run there: $ sudo dpkg --configure -a $ sudo apt-get install -f $ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
