Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed

The options "ro acpi=off nosplash text" can consistently get me booted
to a terminal. Then from the terminal "sudo service start gdm" gets to
the gdm logon screen. On the logon screen I must choose "classic (no
effects)" and then I can get to gnome.

Downgrading to 2.6.37-02063706-generic #201103281005 allows gnome to
start normally.

In the forums here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1743535&page=3

Tell me how to get more information and I'll post it.

Thanks!
