Public bug reported: 1st it starts swapping like mad and system is unresponsive. totally unresponsive, but thats understandable.. up to the point where it a) either takes up to 10 minutes of just disk loving without even checking keyboard not updating screen b) just crashes without leaving any logs (or did I just miss them?)
note, I have 6gb of swap space and just 4gb of ram. crash or looong swapping is done even if swap was initially empty and it could fill whole ram into it (I suspect in less than 10 minutes). but no. it just doesnt survive some bigger ram requests.. note2, I admit, the applications that ran in those times where ram hungry (very), but still, they were in userland and kernel should be able to manage them. (I also started to notice it just after updating to natty) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: linux-image (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
