Well. i have a Dell inspiron 5160 laptop with XGI Volari XP5 video card. I was using vesa with dapper. With edgy though, i have been using the trident driver with xorg and it is working very well at 1440*1050. There is a bug report #67620 already in launchpad and also the trident driver.
