Same thing happened to me after the upgrade. Switched back to the old gnome and all the desktop effects had been changed. Opened up compizconifg and when I turned the cube back on it lost all the other effects, decorations, move windows... pretty much everything. Just continue on with compizconfig and turn everything you need or want back on. Turn window decorations back on, move windows etc. It is all good again once that is done.
