Hi I'm not an expert but I found a way to mend the problem of unity top panel hidding the first lines of guake (maybe a little naively because it works only for guake).
1. Open /usr/lib/guake/guake.py for edit in geany or gedit 2. Go to line 835 3. Increase the variable "window_rect.y" from 0 to something near 30. After this, the line should be like this: window_rect.y = 30 That's all.
