You have been subscribed to a public bug: OS Version: KUbuntu Feisty 7.04Beta downloaded CD version. Java version: "1.4.2", Gnu libgcj version 4.1.2
THE ISSUE: When the Java application is launched and uses/creates the default toolkit [java.awt.Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit()] the Gnu java throws the error: "java.awt.AWTError: Cannot load AWT toolkit: gnu.java.awt.peer.gtk.GtkToolkit" NOTE: when using Java from SUN (version 1.4.2 or above) there's no such problem. I think this is because the corresponding GTK libs that the GNU Java depends on, are not installed ( at least not by default, which is an understandable issue since KUbuntu is based on KDE). I'm a Java developer but I haven't ever worked with the GNU Java, so I can't help much here. I hope this was helpful. To Reproduce type in the console: java -jar AppNameWhichUsesTheToolkitClass.jar ** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Default Java in KUbuntu needs Gtk support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96651 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
