Public bug reported: Clean install of 11.04 yielded blank screen on reboot.
The only message after the boot loader was a text across the top that said "No video mode selected"... (this was before the login screen ...) I was able to fix the problem by booting up in safe mode (at the boot loader, by selecting a different kernel) and installing the proprietary driver for my NVIDIA card (GE force 7100) I had also tried an upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04... and that ended with a blank desktop screen (unity doesn't automatically start). ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: nvidia ** Description changed: ** Description changed: Clean install of 11.04 yielded blank screen on reboot.
