@Sam, hi, is this webcam mic integrated with the AC'97 sound card, or is it a separate card? Is it perhaps an USB webcam? Perhaps if you could log into where this is working and post an alsa-info from there ( see wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo ) that would shed some light on this issue.
