hello i also have the same problem. i think it has to to with the seperate ati-graphics-chip, since it is not possible to disable the chip in the bios. this assumption is based on the fact, that i sometimes see messages regarding radeon / ati drivers after the boot process stopps.
however it ist possible to go around this problem: simply blacklist the radeon driver: echo blacklist radeon | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-radeon.conf sudo update-initramfs -u but the problem remains, that the ati-chip still is running hot. i used to deactivate it with a startup-script (via vgaswitcheroo). unfortunatley this file (/sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch) does not exist anymore. still have to figure out how do deactivate it. also the external monitor (vga) does not work anymore (black screen after resolution-change). well, for me as tm2-users 11.04 is quite painful so far... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749361 Title: [STAGING] Black screen on boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
