hello

i also have the same problem. i think it has to to with the seperate
ati-graphics-chip, since it is not possible to disable the chip in the
bios. this assumption is based on the fact, that i sometimes see
messages regarding radeon / ati drivers after the boot process stopps.

however it ist possible to go around this problem:

simply blacklist the radeon driver:

echo blacklist radeon | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-radeon.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u

but the problem remains, that the ati-chip still is running hot. i used to 
deactivate it with a startup-script (via vgaswitcheroo). unfortunatley this 
file (/sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch) does not exist anymore.
still have to figure out how do deactivate it.

also the external monitor (vga) does not work anymore (black screen
after resolution-change).

well,  for me as tm2-users 11.04 is quite painful so far...
