I have this problem as well, but in a more painful way: i can't boot at
all. After the Ubuntu Splash all goes dark... got to reboot the hard
way.

I have a Thinkpad T400, Ubuntu 10.04. I have dual boot with Windows 7 as
secondary. Both OS run on the same disk, different partitions. I'm 95%
sure I'm using ext3 for my primary partition.

I have to say I'm really disappointed this bug has not been attended by
Canonical or someone qualified: it's been almost a year since it was
reported!
