My hardware is Intel Corporation 82845G Integrated Graphics Controller and after updating to the xserver-xorg-video-intel-2:2.14.0-4ubuntu7 driver today, much of the same issues exist. All that was fixed it appears, is the artifacts in menus and window headers and painting issues in LibreOffice and FireFox.
This driver still will not support the Ubuntu Unity and Ubuntu Classic, only Ubuntu Classic (No effects).
